Microplane Endurance Test
Li-Ion Multiplex Fox
Li-Ion Multiplex Fox
Intrigued by Li-Ion endurance performance, I decided to try them on a little Multiplex Fox.
At first, I tried with 1S Li-Ion battery with a step up converter to reach ~7V to power up the whole system properly. I had to limit the motor range since the converter couldn't handle many amps (~2 A). This was insufficient and flight was hardly maintained. Switching to a 2S battery pack was the way to go.
The battery is a 2S Sony VTC6 3000 mAh weighing 103 g (including cables and connectors) while the empty plane weighs 83 g. I got more than 1h 15min of intermittent flight time with still half-ish the battery left.
Performance is phenomenal for a little FPV cruiser, a joy to fly for a long time.
