This project defines the conceptual design of an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) and covers certain constructive aspects. This small UAV will be used as a testbed system as well as a tool for other activities. It provides a high modularity and compatibility level to ensure several different configurations.
The manufacturing method is based on 3D printing technology (FDM - Fused Deposition Modeling). 3D printing provides a good implementation of compliant mechanisms for moving surfaces. All this technology allows the creation and replication of high fidelity components, reduces the number of assemblies and, therefore, building time and workload.
This UAV, called Unity, is an open source design customizable by any user to be adapted to their needs. It is presented as a very low cost, simple and convenient solution for a wide variety of applications.
